Mariners
is an organization of Christians within the Presbyterian
Church (U.S.A.) which maintains an emphasis on family
life and mission. Its programs and activities seek to
advance the ministry and witness of Christ's church through
service and outreach, establishing and maintaining Christian
homes, and fellowships within and without the church.
The organizational structure of Mariners is flexible enough
to meet the needs of the local congregation, while the
national organization provides a source of corporate identity,
program resources, leadership and guidance. National Presbyterian
Mariners is responsible through the Program Agency to
the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
The Presbyterian
Mariner Programs and activities are based on the following
objectives:
| 1. |
To encourage
Christian faith and practice in every home; helping
families progress in Christian living. |
| 2. |
To become
involved in the struggle for social justice. |
| 3. |
To interest
those outside the church in uniting with the church. |
| 4. |
To provide
the opportunity for Christian fellowship. |
| 5. |
To develop
leadership for the church. |
| 6. |
To support
and serve the church in its total ministry and mission. |
