To know Jesus Christ as Savior
and make Him known through: Spirit-filled worship, passionate
evangelism, loving fellowship, obedience to scripture, support of
worldwide missions, and service to our community.
Peter opened his mouth and said, 'Truly I understand that God shows no
partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears Him & does what is
right is acceptable to Him.'" (Acts 10:34-35)
It is so refreshing to read God's Word (the Bible) and see such a
contrast between what God wants for His people and what we see going on
in the larger world. We are witnessing a great increase in the
public display of racism in which people of different ethnicities are
being discriminated against simply because of the color of their skin,
or their nationality, or how they speak.
In the New Testament, God makes it very clear that there are really
only two groups of people: those who are trusting in Jesus Christ as
their Lord and Savior and those who have not yet made that
decision. It is really not God's desire that we have white
churches, black churches, Hispanic churches, Korean churches, and many
more based on skin color or nationality. He wants us all to be
one in Christ.
With God there is no partiality and neither should there be with
us. In our church, we have men and women from all different
ethnicities, but I don't really recognize those differences. They
are dear brothers and sisters in Christ. If anyone of Jesus'
disciples would have a tendency to want to be proud of his nationality,
it was Peter who was raised in the Jewish faith and was looking for the
restoration of Israel.
But it was Peter who wrote these words in Acts! It doesn't matter
what nation you came from--what does matter is have you done what is
acceptable to God. And what is acceptable to God? Jesus
said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the
Father except through me." This is what is acceptable to
God. Have you made that decision to trust Jesus Christ as your
Lord and Savior? May God grant you the courage and faith to do so
if you have not already done so!
